In addition, the Whitewater Rotary Club recognizes outstanding high school students during the spring season of the school year as Rotary Students of the Month. The students are nominated and chosen by the WHS Principal and his staff. Qualifications for this honor include an excellent academic record, extracurricular involvement and participation in community service. The honorees this past spring of 2009, pictured with their parents, WHS Principal Dr. Vance Dalzin and Whitewater Rotary Past President Aurelio Callope were Meredith Walsh, Timothy Keil, and Nathan Callope.
Meredith Walsh is attending UW-Madison and is contemplating a major in veterinary medicine. She is the daughter of Roxanne Walsh and has three siblings. Meredith was on the WHS varsity tennis team and was a conference medalist in her junior and senior years. She also volunteered her time and talents with the boy's tennis team. Music was another interest in her life through active participation in various band ensembles. She also served as a band officer for two years and was a regular participant in the State Solo/Ensemble Competition playing her clarinet. Meredith also enjoyed being a member of the WHS Spanish Club.
Timothy Keil is at UW-Platteville studying agricultural education. He is the son of Steve and Erna Keil. Tim was a member of WHS National Honor Society and was active in sports, FFA and 4H.
