The Whitewater Rotary Club meets from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Tuesdays at the Whitewater Country Club located on Hwy. 89 South, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Chartered in 1966, the Whitewater Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, the worldwide association of Rotary clubs whose mission is to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. Promoting Rotary youth exchange is one way to advance world understanding and more than 8,000 young people from countries around the world participate in Rotary's Youth Exchange Program. The Whitewater Rotary Club has been very active in supporting local students who wish to study abroad, as well as international students who attend Whitewater High School. We recently hosted Roberto, our most recent exchange student from Bolivia, in Whitewater for the 2010-2011 school year. Below are pictures of Roberto at a recent Rotary meeting celebrating his birthday and practicing for the WHS musical production, Anything Goes.
Before Roberto, the Whitewater Rotary Club hosted Zoe from Taiwan and Jacques from France. The Whitewater Rotary Club has hosted foreign exchange students each year since the late 1970's. We have also sponsored a number of Whitewater High School students, like Veronica, who wanted to experience life in another culture. Veronica, a WHS student, was sponsored by the Whitewater Rotary Club to study in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she spent her 2009-2010 school year.
